Sunshine State Insurance Company (SSIC) is a privately held Florida Domestic insurance company licensed to write business in the states of Florida and South Carolina. SSIC only uses quality reinsurance carriers, approved by the Florida Department of Insurance, to reinsure our policies. All of SSIC's reinsurers are rated between "A++" and "A-" by the A.M. Best Company. SSIC itself was assigned a Financial Stability Rating of "A" (Exceptional) on September 6, 1997 by Demotech, Inc. Fannie Mae (Federal National Mortgage Association) and Freddie Mac (Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation) accepts Demotech Financial Stability Ratings of "A" or better in regards to hazard insurance companies. Demotech reaffirmed the "A" rating on June 1, 2005.
SSIC continues to expand by contracting with agents to write personal property policies throughout the states of Florida and South Carolina. We will also be introducing additional personal lines products as they are approved. We also offer a Residential Builders Risk program in Florida and South Carolina through Florida Home Builders Insurance, Inc. (FHBI).
